Page Content
What's changing?
On Monday, June 23, 2025, iTech will begin federating Apple School Manager with the University's @usm.edu email domain. This will reserve all @usm.edu email addresses in Apple's "Apple ID" system fo official University business.
Who is affected?
Any faculty, staff, or students whose Apple ID is currently associated with an @usm.edu email address will receive an email and device notification directly from Apple. The notification will request that you change your Apple ID email address.
If your Apple ID is already associated to a personal, non @usm.edu email address, you can disregard this announcement.
What happens if I don't change?
Failing to update your Apple ID email address within 30 days will result in services such as iMessage and Facetime to be inaccessible until the Apple ID email address is changed.
Failing to update your Apple ID email address within 60 days will result in an automatic change to a temporary Apple ID provided directly by Apple with further instructions.
