At Southern Miss, we believe in celebrating hard work, leadership, and the drive to make a difference. That’s why we offer a number of competitive scholarship programs designed for incoming freshmen who have gone above and beyond—both in and out of the classroom. These scholarships are more than just financial support; they’re an investment in your potential and a reflection of the values we hold as a university.
If you're a student with a strong academic record, active in your school or community, or passionate about leadership and service, you may be eligible to apply for one of our most prestigious awards. These programs are competitive, but they’re also an incredible opportunity to join a supportive community of scholars who are ready to make their mark on campus—and beyond.

JANUARY 15: Submit the General Application and Competitive Scholarship Application through the for Honors College and Luckyday and through Slate for the Joe Paul Leadership Scholarship Program.
MID MARCH: Students can login to the GO System and learn their status of the competitive process for each program.
MAY 1: Students must accept Freshman Competitive Scholarships in the GO System.
