As a public institution that accepts federal funding, USM is required to ensure compliance with evolving research regulations. Beginning in fall 2025, all USM faculty and staff who conduct human subjects research reviewed by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) or non-human subjects research reviewed by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) will have to complete the Conflicts of Interest CITI course. Additionally, any students (graduate or undergraduate) involved in federally-funded research must also complete this course. The course is now available through CITI. Any faculty or staff submitting a protocol for review to the IRB or IACUC from October 1st onward must have completed these new courses for their project to receive review.
The following links provide a more detailed explanation of the rules and procedures regarding the disclosure of financial relationships. Additional questions regarding financial disclosure should be directed to Dr.%20Donald%20Sacco, Interim Director of the Office of Research Integrity.
